Takes a little getting used to… then this tool RIPS! I got the feel for this planer tool on an old set of “garage” skis that don’t get used any more. I would not take this tool out of the box and start working on your favorite boards (or new ones) without first doing some test cuts on an old pair. The adjustment system works very well and allows for a very precise cut. I can remove material exactly where I need to without having to hog out the entire sidewall. The catch is you must adjust for both height and depth to ensure the amount of “bite”…

I was nervous to get one of these after being told how hard they are to use, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected. If you can handle using a scraper sharpener then you won’t have any trouble making the smooth steady motions this requires. Just err on the side of not taking enough away to begin with, you can always make another pass. It works so much better than the old panzer file I used to use.
